DES Encrypt/Decrypt

What is DES Encryption

The data encryption standard, sometimes known as DES, is an encryption technique that breaks plaintext into blocks and utilizes a key to transform those blocks into ciphertext. Horst Feistel's earlier Lucifer cipher, which was used before DES, served as its basis. One of the original block ciphers was Lucifer, which was created in the 1970s.

What is DES Decryption

As you may know, decryption is the total opposite of encryption. The process of turning an encrypted DES string back to its original format is called DES decryption. Since DES encryption needs a secret key to encrypt the data, it is very important to provide the right secret key during the decryption process.

Encrypting and decrypting DES can be time-consuming, especially when you don’t have enough knowledge about DES encryption and decryption. Since there is a lot of complexity and some sort of learning curve is involved, most of the users end up using an online DES encrypt/decrypt tool to get the job done as soon as possible.

We have so many online tools available to encrypt and decrypt DES, but not every online tool gives an accurate result and that is why we have created this online DES encrypt/decrypt tool. It is a very simple and easy-to-use tool. Most important thing is that it is beginner-friendly.

How to Use DES Encrypt/Decrypt Tool

  • As you can see, we have 2 input fields and 1 dropdown. For instance, you want to encrypt a string with DES encryption.
  • From the dropdown, select Encrypt and in the first input field, enter a string.
  • In the password field, enter the secret key.
  • Click on Get button. The tool will encrypt the string with DES encryption and display the result in the second input field.
